Peter Bakker receives 'Sustainability Leader Award'

SAM and SPG, two leading sustainable investment companies, announced today that they are granting their Sustainability Leader Award to Peter Bakker and their Sustainability Pioneer Award to Ashok Gadgil, a scholar at Berkeley.

The jury commended Bakker's 'innovative corporate citizenship' and TNT's 'integral approach towards sustainability' which encompasses the long-term partnership with the WFP, the Planet Me programme and the linking of manager compensation to non-financial goals.

TNT starts carbon-free tricycle deliveries in Paris

TNT Express France has started using tricycles to deliver light parcels in the centre of Paris. The carbon-free service will initially cover the 3rd arrondissement of the capital before extending to the entire city heart by June 2010. The initiative is conducted in cooperation with Green Logistics / Becycle, a new company specialising in ecological transportation.

Climate deal creates unpredictable future

The Copenhagen agreement for tackling climate change, widely billed as “weak and inadequate,” could create an unpredictable future for environmental measures, said TNT spokesman Mark Dijk.

"The vague outcomes, reached this past weekend, and the discussions held between the US, China and India could lead to a patchwork of national and regional solutions," said Dijk, Senior Manager Public Affairs.

TNT India’s road safety record dramatically improves

From 22 out of 44 road fatalities in 2007, down to just three in the first six months of 2009: this is the stark improvement seen in India’s road safety track record in just two years.

This palpable success is down to the introduction of TNT India’s Road Safety Management Systems (RSMS) and Road Safety Plan in April 2008. “Training and management focus have been paramount throughout this journey, while driver amenities, such as restrooms and hub facilities, have been improved significantly too,” said TNT India’s Corporate Responsibility Director Jay Parkhe.
