TNT pledges 25.000 USD to help colleagues affected by cyclone Sidr

Dhaka / Amsterdam - Last Thursday cyclone Sidr hit southern and southwestern coastal areas of Bangladesh. The cyclone affected 40 of the 130 TNT families living in Bangladesh. They suffered severe material damage, fortunately no casualties were reported amongst them. TNT donated 25.000 USD to help the colleagues and their families affected by this devastating cyclone.

TNT emergency airlift operation for WFP Sudan

On the 4th of September, a ‘Haboob’ hit Nyala (Darfur). It came sudden and unexpectedly and blasted across Nyala town and the WFP logistics hub in South Darfur with an incredible force. It severely damaged the hub’s guard towers and fence, slightly injured one local WFP staff member and ripped out 150mm reinforced spikes that anchor very large warehouse tents to the ground, destroying 19 of these without hesitation. TNT’s ER team has been able to step in to relief this disaster and deliver 10 warehouse tents to WFP Khartoum.

A moment of personal pride

Mukesh joined TNT about two years ago in Territory Management in Mumbai. He has humble beginnings in life and a tough journey in getting his education as his father is a Cab driver and has seen poverty closely. It was, thus a great moment for him when during the March 07 cascade he had a chance to participate in the Moving the World Emergency Response Game during the CEO Cascade and a chance to shake hands with the CEO Mr. Peter Bakker.

TNT assists WFP in Nicaragua

Since September 8th Emilie Jacquemier from TNT Express France is send out on an Emergency Response assignment. She assists WFP Nicaragua as a reports officer in the operation that started after hurricane Felix hit the country.

First Emergency Response Standby training held in the Netherlands

On 18 June, around 35 TNT employees went to Noordwijkerhout in the Netherlands to participate in the first Emergency Response Standby Team (ERST) training. This training was held to give the employees, who had already been selected for the ERST, the chance to prepare for their roles.
