London Calling

The London Marathon, one of the largest and most celebrated city sporting events in the world, took place last Sunday. More than 33,000 runners took part in the race, cheered on by half a million spectators.


Our intrepid Walk the World team were out handing out leaflets about Walk the World London, and getting the buzz going for the other big London "sporting" event taking place in Regent's Park on 21 May 2006.

Celebrity buzz is here. This week the legendary rock-star and campaigner Sir Bob Geldof was in Dubai with our Walk the World team from WFP and TNT, sharing their enthusiasm and commitment to Fight Hunger.

Ronaldinho, voted the best footballer in the world for the second year in a row by FIFA, is not just scoring on the pitch. This world renowned Brazilian ace is joining thousands worldwide to support Fight Hunger this year.

Listen to his radio ad calling for everyone to Walk the World. If he draws the same crowds to Walk as he will for the upcoming World Cup, child hunger will be well and truly tackled!

The first thing I do when I turn on my computer each morning is check out the latest events that have been registered for Walk the World. They're popping up all over the map!

Today's new entries in our global collection of Walking Cities include Lahore in Pakistan, Alexandria in Virginia (USA), Chikwawa in Malawi and Gothenburg in Sweden. Wouldn't it be great to see our walk map totally packed out with events in every corner of the globe?
