Insider view: a WFP aid worker in Lebanon

Each day brings new reports of distress from the war zones of Southern Lebanon, and increasingly from other parts of the country where hundreds of thousands refugees are precariously camping out.

The World Food Programme is working closely with other international organisations and NGOs to assist the Lebanese people and provide essential aid to the needy. However, crucial roads and bridges are being destroyed by bombs, and getting food and assistance to refugees is becoming more and more difficult.

See the crowd in Lima at their spectacular Walk ! There were full-blown exercise and stretch classes for all walkers before the event. Then the marchers took off along the panoramic costa verde walk, led by clowns on stilts and motorcyclists.

Check out the great concert at the end by the biggest Peruvian rock star Pedro Suarez Vertiz.

Determined Swimmer Sets Another World Record in Java Earthquake Relief Effort

Central Java, Indonesia. To help spark interest in World Food Programme relief efforts for the recent Indonesian earthquake, marathon swimmer Monte Monfore accomplished a world first and new record near the quake's epicenter. The American braved stormy seas swimming 12.5 kilometers in the Karimunjawa National Marine Park located north of Central Java in the South China Sea.

Prize-winning Brazilian students visit Fight Hunger

Brazil was one of the key countries holding Walk the World events this year. Hunger lessons were held in schools throughout the country, a kick-off event was held in Guarulhos, Sao Paulo featuring an orchestra of local children, and two fantatic walks were held in Salvador di Bahia and Guarulhos.
