Too nervous to enjoy the preparations of the trip today! With all the clothes for the african children, the weight of my suitcase is more than expected and more than allowed (+20 kg). Compared with the others, we're living close to the airport of Zaventem, lucky girl I am. Tonight, I'll kiss my children goodbye, tomorrow morning my husband. The Gambia, here we come!

Countdown The Gambia part II

The final day in the office before leaving to The Gambia on Monday morning. The last couple of days I received a lot of support from my colleagues, wishing me a good trip, bon voyage, etc. and assuring me that TNT’s support to the WFP is what makes them proud to work for TNT. Maybe unnecessary to say, but, and I think I can speak for all my fellow field trippers, it makes us proud too. Don’t want to sound too corny, but the support you all have giving me, feels truly good.

Ready for the fieldtrip in Gambia

Leave my wife and my children and  go into the unknown, to a country which I know nothing, I admit, I am a little scared, but I'm ready to go, an adventure and extraordinary experience. See on the field that actually does the WFP for local people, understand the whole course of the logistics and maybe give some ideas. I am not a WFP Ambassador in TNT but maybe this trip will give me the urge to become one?

I hope to be able to do a quick summary of my trip days after days for keep you informed

Countdown The Gambia

07 December 2011
Marco Beenen

After a couple of meetings, and getting to know my fellow fieldtrip-members, the countdown for the departure has started.

Thoughts go back and forward, gratitude for the opportunity, wondering how The Gambia will be, Ideas to share with the WFP, UN AIDS and North Star, leaving my girlfriend for a week and returning on her birthday, how will I react on being confronted with hunger and poverty, can I handle the heat...

Electric Vehicle TNT Express Turkey

TNT Express Turkey started the “Clean Vehicle Project” on November 2006 and it became the first company to use hybrid cars in this country. Now, they have bought Turkey’s first commercial electric vehicles.

These three new vehicles have been operating for the past two months and they have an excellent performance. They have inspired TNT employees, their families, our customers and the community.

Expectations are that Ecommerce will be booming in Africa

When writing the article ' Are mobile-based addresses key to social and economical growth in informal settlements?' for the WBCSD , there are two main questions: 1) Is there a need for addresses that connect supply chains (delivery men) to people and businesses, and 2) if people are connected to a logistics network,  what advantages will it give them?
