I am working with the web team in Washington, DC, helping out with the translation help pop-ups that you may have noticed on the event pages. A few days ago I posted a note on my blog about the Walk the World initiative and how easy it was for individuals to make a concrete impact in the lives of hungry children. Since then, I noticed that Walk the World has been garnering more and more attention around the web on a variety of blogs.

Dubai: Hundreds of Dubai residents are expected to join more than 200,000 people around the world in the battle against child hunger and walk in over 90 countries across 24 different time zones.

United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has teamed up with Dubai Municipality, Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Foundation and Dubai Aid City to show how one collective footstep can transform the lives of the world's poorest children.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 12.

Former Pakistan cricketers Wasim Akram and Moin Khan will participate in a walk on June 12 to spread awareness and raise funds to eradicate child hunger the world over.

Amjad Jamal, a representative of WFP said that while Moin will appear in the walk in Karachi, Wasim will do so in Lahore, the Dawn reported today.

The United Nation's World Food Programme (WFP) has organised the event - "Fight Hunger: Walk the World", the paper added. (ANI)

India News, Islamabad, Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who couldn't make into the team for the West Indies tour, will participate in a walk being organised by the United Nations to fight hunger on June 12.

According to the Online News, Shoaib has accepted an invitation from the UN World Food Programme (WFP) to participate in the walk being organised by WFP.

"I will be a part of this walk which is being organized for a cause and humanity," Shoaib is said to have told WFP country Representative in Pakistan German Valdivia.

Islamabad: Pakistan fast bowling great Wasim Akram and veteran Test discard wicketkeeper Moin Khan would take part in a walk for a noble cause on June 12.

Organised jointly by the United Nation's World Food Programme (WFP) and a courier company, the "Fight Hunger: Walk the World" event is being held to whip up awareness and funds for eradicating child hunger.

It is learnt that gloveman Moin will feature in the walk in Karachi, while Akram will take part in the walk in Lahore.

New York (UN/epo). - The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) will co-sponsor the second annual global walk against child hunger, with participants in over 90 countries across 24 time zones raising money to help fund school feeding projects worldwide.

On Sunday, 12 June, more than 200,000 people are expected to walk five kilometers -- a little over 3 miles -- in over 200 participating cities, according to the WFP, which is joining with TNT, a provider of mail, express and logistics services, to sponsor the event.
