Switzerland pre-round

Drive Me Challenge
On 2nd June Switzerland elected its winning driver, who will participate to drive me challenge on October 4th.

The pre-round saw a face-off among 15 drivers from all Swiss depots (three from Lugano, eleven from Zurich, one from Geneva), selected according to customers feedbacks and driving behavior.

The challenge that took place in Osogna Safe Driving Center, consisted of three main parts: eco driving, service quality, and safe driving of course.

During the first part of the race every driver was asked to cover a certain distance in 20 minutes time. The car was equipped with a special device capable of measuring emissions and fuel consumption.

Still in the morning began the second part of challenge that simulated a typical work day. The drivers should collect and deliver parcels but also take care of customers. Three members of the jury, each one from a different Switzerland canton, dressed the part of the customers and were in charge of evaluating the drivers performance. Every “customer”, in fact, tested the drivers competence simply asking for information or refusing a parcel. In this case the scoring system was based not only on speed but also other criteria like appearance, kindness.

The last part of the challenge was held in the afternoon and counted double in the final score. The drivers followed a special path set up by safe driving experts, who had to keep track of speed and any mistake.

Massimo Ruggeri (on the left) gained the highest score. He comes from Lugano, Italian part of Switzerland, and he has been working in TNT for more than 15 years. We surely get to know him better very soon.
